Profinet Industrial Ethernet Cables
Profinet is mainly used in industrial automation, where reliable, fast and often real-time communication between machines, controllers (PLCs), sensors and actuators is required. As an industrial Ethernet protocol, Profinet generally uses two wire pairs and thus achieves 100 Mbit/s (Fast Ethernet). Compared to standard Ethernet cables, Profinet cables that are optimised for industrial use offer better shielding, greater resistance to oils and chemicals and a higher mechanical load capacity.
Depending on the type, Profinet cables can be used for flexible and permanently flexible applications. Type R Profinet cables can also be used for robots with torsional stress.
Which Profinet cable types are available? Which Profinet cable is suitable for my application? In the following overview you will find examples of Profinet cables for flexible, highly flexible or permanently installed applications. Depending on the application, we can offer all cables with UL/CSA approval.
Types of Profinet cable:
Profinet type A - for fixed installation
Profinet type B - for flexible or moving applications
Profinet type C - for highly flexible use or permanently moving applications in drag chains
Profinet type R - for use on robots with torsional stresses
A detailed Profinet cable specification can be found under the respective cable type in the following overview:
